BREAKING NEWS - THE FOLLOWING NEW EVENTS ARE TO FEATURE IN THIS YEARS 2011 MUCKNO MANIA FESTIVAL:

HELICOPTER RIDES - Book your seat and see Blayney from the air!

This year we are also offering on Sunday 17th an opportunity for you to take a helicopter ride over the town. This is an ideal and exciting opportunity for townsfolk to get a glimpse of the town from the air and at the same time experience the trill of travelling in a helicopter. The Helicopter ride which can accommodate 3 persons at a time costs €55 per individual (full booking of 3 persons costs €150). It will last for about ten minutes and the travel routes will vary.  

BUNGEE JUMP - "LEAP AT THE LOUGH"

Bungee Jumping is another new item on our Festival Programme. The event which is not for the faint hearted will provide an adrenalin rush for those taking part and a shiver down the spine of those spectating. The event taking place on Sunday 17th July which is being co-ordinated by Castleblayney Faughs also provides an opportunity for individuals to use their participation in the jump to fundraise for their own chosen charity or as club fundraising. FLOAT YOUR SOAP BOX - Must be able to go on land &water.

“It’s the same only different” is the best way to describe this novel event.
So get ready for this years NEW event “The Shane Tyres – FLOAT YOUR SOAP” which replaces last years event “The Soap Box Derby”. So get your amphibious vehicle ready to take you from land to water and back again. The event takes place on Saturday 16th July at 1pm at Lough Muckno.  Entry form and details can be obtained from Enterprise Centre.

CULTURAL FAIR:

On Friday evening 15th July we invite you to visit our Cultural Fair which will be held on the Towns Main Street from 6pm-9pm. The event has as its aims to promote awareness of the different cultures that exists within our Community. So take a walk along the footpath and have a chat with the many different nationalities that are now living in Castleblayney and gain some knowledge of their country, capital city, tourist attractions and traditions. You will also have an opportunity too sample some of their Country dishes. Countries participating include: China, Hungry, India, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland and Sri Lanka. We are grateful to Monaghan County Council for their support with this event. 

MUCKNO MANIA MUSIC FEST:

Don’t miss this exceptional music treat where 3 local bands come together to ‘entertain you’.         These are the Kelle Redmond Band, The Cheesy Bitches and the Fuzzy Burgers. This music bonanza takes places in the Glencarn Hotel on Thursday 14th July at 11pm.

Admission charge €10. 

SWAP SHOP:

This is a new event on Sunday 17th July which invites children to bring an unwanted toy in good condition to be swapped for another. So arrive on the day and bring your toy with you and look out for our Festival Swap Shop.

BLAYNEYS GOT TALENT:

We are looking for budding young talent on Sunday 17th July for this event which will be staged between 4-6pm on one of our mobile stages. Acts will be judged by our own panel of expert adjudicators. Entries on the day.
