The 2010 Muckno Mania Festival Programme which was staged from 15th – 18 July and attracted the highest number of spectators since the Festival began 11 years ago.
It was a weekend of achievements and celebrations from the success of the town smashing a Guinness World Record with 905 people dressed as Flintstones on Friday 16th July'10. This is Castleblayney SECOND Guinness World Record in two Years. The first Guinness World Record being last year with the most amount of people (1253 in total) dressed up as the "Smurfs."
Also a record number of over 300 people turned out to take part in our ever popular Triathlon event. This colourful and sportive spectacle took place primarily on the grounds and surrounds of Lough Muckno. Lough Muckno often described as the “Killarney of the North” which provides a magnificent setting for the event and I have no doubt that those who took part in the 2010 event would concur with this description.
A big congratulations to Lisa McEneaney who represented The Spinning Wheel, she was crowned our Muckno Mania Festival Queen for 2010 at the Glencarn on Saturday 17th. Lisa took over from 2009 Festival Queen winner Tanya Greene.
The Muckno Mania Festival is driven by a hard working and dedicated Committee who give generously of their time to ensure a good and varied programme of events. The Festival is run under the auspices of Castleblayney Community Enterprise who provide management and administration back-up thus enabling it to be sustainable.
